Christopher Laird Simmons

Mr. Simmons is a veteran multimedia artist, author, musician, photographer, marketing guru, and entrepreneur. He has written for a diverse range of publications including Digital Imaging, Micro Publishing News, Computer Player, Polyphony (now Electronic Musician), Spazz, and Nu*Real. His articles have also been reprinted in publications like the Graphic Artist Guild newspaper. He has published numerous small press publications as a teenager, and is the former art director of Digital Imaging, Computer Player, and Digital Printer magazines.

As a web designer, he has developed over 200 Web sites since 1995 including projects for No Fear, Oprah Winfrey's Civitas.org, and the Findwhat.com search engine.

His art and photography have been used on over 25 magazine covers since 1997. His digital fine art was selected for the cover of the Science and Technology course catalog by California State University of Long Beach (CSULB), and included in the experimental Bytes of Art project which ran in multiple art galleries in San Francisco, sponsored by Digital Equipmenent Corp. He has composed theme music for two cable TV series including the award-winning VidKidCo, and his original electronica music has been played on radio stations and favorably reviewed in music publications around the world.

He was also responsible for designing and managing the first two years of the magazine ads and catalogs of the MacMall mail-order company, for which he won several Harvey Communication Measurement awards, and one Apple ARPL design marketing award.

He is a current member of the Graphic Artist Guild, the Public Relations Society of America, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers; and a former member of the Direct Marketing Association. He is listed in several different editions of Marquis Who's Who. He is frequently interviewed by publications like PC World on art and technology topics, and has been invited to speak at Seybold, and the annual meeting of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, among others.

He is also the president of Neotrope, offering his own wide range of talents and those of fellow creatives as a "virtual agency." Neotrope was founded in 1983 as S.U. Graphics, and became Mindset in 1987. His design and art skills are fully self-taught, with the exception of attending CompuGraphic typesetting school in 1985.
